I took the phone call while I was in a meeting, stepping out into the hallway of the hotel conference area. I hurried down the nearby stairs to an open area between conference spaces.

The attorney, his client an alleged clergy sexual abuser, was ordering me around like I was a child.

For the next eleven minutes, I was yelled at, called a liar multiple times, threatened with untrue accusations being made to the court about my handling of the case, and told that it was now personal and he’d never let us go. My responses included statements like, “You are not my boss” and “You are not my father” and requests to act becoming of an officer of the court.
